At TheraBarn, Holly Inglish blends horses, heart, and learning—bringing EquiScholars to life in rural North Dakota.

Hi There! I’m Holly Inglish, the heart behind TheraBarn in rural North Dakota. I’m thrilled to share a little of my journey and how EquiScholars has helped me blend two lifelong passions—working with children and connecting with horses—into something truly meaningful.

My love for horses began when I was very young. I sought out every opportunity to be around them, but it wasn’t until college that I truly experienced the deep bond possible between horses and humans. I’ll never forget the joy of walking Prancer and Blitzen along the roadside ditches with my friend Ashley—those moments sparked something in me that never left.

Years later, I stumbled across EquiScholars in the most unexpected and wonderful way—through an essay contest. I was chosen as the winner, which introduced me to the program and its founder, Kate. From our first conversation, I felt an instant connection. Even though she’s an ocean away, her support has felt like a neighborly hug—close, consistent, and full of heart.

Out here on our farm in North Dakota, the EquiScholars curriculum has found a new home. We’ve adapted the program to fit the needs of our rural community, hosting horse education camps on-site and traveling to nearby areas to bring EquiScholars to even more young learners. The programs are deeply enriching experiences that blend social-emotional growth, horsemanship, and curiosity. What’s more, they’ve become a true family endeavor. My daughters now assist in camps, passing on what they’ve learned through the EquiScholars lens. Watching them grow into thoughtful, empathetic educators is one of my proudest joys.

My professional background is in psychology, with a certification in Autism from the University of North Dakota. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I spent five years working with children with special needs, focusing heavily on behavioral interventions. When I discovered how equine-assisted learning could support children, I knew I had found my calling. EquiScholars brings together everything I love: education, inclusion, emotional development, and of course—horses.

TheraBarn is more than a space—it’s a mission. It’s where horses and hearts meet, where learning becomes an adventure, and where every child is seen, heard, and understood. I’m so grateful for the path that led me here and for the continued journey alongside the amazing EquiScholars community.

Whether you’re a fellow horse lover, an educator, a parent, or someone curious about equine-assisted learning, I hope TheraBarn can offer inspiration and insight into the beautiful partnership between horses and young minds. Thank you for being a part of our story. 🐎❤️
